Mae E. Martin

Mae Martin passed away peacefully January 9th 2014, surrounded by her loving family at Grace Pointe Crossing in Cambridge. Mae was born February 28, 1927 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. She grew up in Grygla, Minnesota. After high school she attended normal training school. She married David Martin in 1951 and taught at Hustletown Country School for one year then stayed home to raise her family. She later attended the University of Minnesota Duluth campus and got her teaching degree. She taught at Pine City Elementary until she retired. Mae enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, gardening and traveling. She is survived by daughters Carolyn Sato of Cave Creek, Arizona, Paulie and her husband Wally Beise of Cambridge, Pam and her husband John Ward of Pine City, Patty and her husband Warren Anderson of North Mankato, Minnesota, five grandchildren: Benjamin (Kristy) Beise, Christopher (Sara) Beise, Sarah (David) McFarland, Phillip (Kristen Frederick) Anderson, & Joshua Smith. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren: Brianna, Michael, Adam, Madison, Megan, and Logan; sister Gladys McCormack of Thief River Falls, and brother Melvin Englund of Grygla, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents Swan & Olga (Wolden) Englund, husband David Martin, and seven siblings. Funeral services are Tuesday, January 14th at 2:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Pine City with Pastor Rob Spahr officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. A Spring interment will be held at West Rock Cemetery, rural Pine City. Arrangement are entrusted to the Funeral and Cremation Service ~ Swanson Chapel of Pine City www.funeralandcremationservice.com
