Roy passed away Friday, January 17th at his home near Pine City, at the age of 78.He was born October 4th, 1935 in Star Prairie, Wisconsin to Francis and Helma Nadeau. At a young age he moved with his family to Stillwater, Minnesota where he grew up and graduated from Stillwater High School.Roy served with the United States Army during the Korean War then enlisted in the Army Reserve where he retired as a Command Sgt. Major with 37 years of service. He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus member and an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Pine City.Most of his life Roy made his home in St. Paul where he worked for Northern States Power retiring after 34 years as well as working part time for Holm & Olson Flower Shop as a delivery man. In 1991, Roy and Bev moved to Pine City to a house on Cross Lake where Roy was engaged in the business of “Roy’s Pontoon Hauling”. He was an active member of the Heath-Perkins American Legion Post #51 and also a member of the Novak-Milliren VFW Post #4258.He is survived by his loving wife Beverly, his children Carol (Mark) Carroll, Catherine (Don) Deiman, Kristine Knoll (Don Beseke), Kevin (Susan) Wiley, Kim (Neal) Rich, 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, sisters Helen LaCosse & Gloria McMaster and brother Bernard Nadeau.He was preceded in death by his parents Francis T. and Helma M. (Johnson) Nadeau, a grandson Patrick Ryan Carroll and 2 brothers Donald and Francis Jr. and sister Florence Nadeau.Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, January 24th at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 535 8th St. SW, Pine City. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday with a 7:30 p.m. vigil prayer service and Rosary at Swanson Funeral Chapel and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery of Pine City with military honors.In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
