Jerome Edward Wurm, 72, of Pine City died suddenly of heart failure while driving his tractor on the afternoon of January 27, 2014.
He was born November 12, 1941 on the family farm. He was the fifth child of the nine children born to Nick and Bernadette (Kraft) Wurm. He attended school district #9 and graduated from Pine City High School. He was active in 4-H and FFA. After graduation Jerry enlisted in the army and was stationed mainly in France. Upon returning from the service he worked for the Land-O-Lakes Plant in Pine City.
Jerry always had his mind set on farming. In 1973 he bought the
family farm from his parents. He spent the rest of his life dairy farming and put in long hard days of labor.
Jerry always had time for church and was an active usher. He was a good man and he died doing what he knew and loved best.
Surviving Jerome are his siblings: Bernard (Betty Lou) Wurm of Ramsey, Donald Wurm of Pine City, Winifred (Tom) Gleason of Savage, Susan (William) Varnum of Onalaska, Wisconsin, Geraldine (Joseph) Sausen of North Branch, and Mark (Camille) Wurm of Clifton, Virginia. He is also survived by 19 nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are: his parents, sister Antoinette Handeland, and brother-in-law Orville Handeland, brother James Wurm, and sister-in-law Patricia Wurm and an infant sister.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 1st at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pine City with Msgr. Aleksander Suchan celebrating the mass. Visitation will be on Friday, January 31st at Swanson Funeral Chapel from 4:00 until 7:30 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will also be on Saturday 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery of Pine City.
