Agnes (Wengelski) Mansavage was born on November 3, 1928 in the small town of Knowlton, Wisconsin to Stanley & Mary (Jazdzewski) Wengelski. She attended country school and graduated from the 12th grade. She found work following high school in nearby Stevens Point, Wisconsin and that is where she met her husband David Mansavage. They were married on October 1, 1949 at
St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Knowlton. They moved to the Minneapolis area and adopted 3 children: Mark, Bruce & Marybeth. In 1961 they relocated to Pine City and remained there until their final days. Agnes (Aggie) did not sit idle. She helped Dave in their locker plant business until it closed, worked at a local nursery and worked at the Pine City Schools as a playground-lunchroom monitor & crossing guard. But her biggest accomplishment, that was very dear to her heart, was establishing the first licensed daycare in Pine City – one that would continue for 26 years. And of course, she took great pride in her amazing display of flowers that graced almost every square foot of earth around her storybook house. People came from near and far to enjoy what Aggie,‘The Flower Lady of Pine City’, had to offer.Aggie had a strong faith and gave thanks to God every day for all of his blessings given to her. She was very involved in church and helped serve the congregation as much as she could.Unfortunately, Aggie lost Dave in 2006 and soon after, the awful symptoms of Alzheimers began to weaken her memory. She had to leave her house, her flowers and her life as she knew it and move to an assisted living home. In 2009, a final relocation was made to a “memory care” home near Mora, Minnesota where around the clock observation & care was given. It was sad to see such a vibrant person taken away from family & friends by this devastating &
non-discriminating disease.Aggie passed away peacefully on January 29, 2014 and entered the kingdom of heaven. She will be laid to rest on February 6, 2014 in Calvary Cemetery alongside her beloved husband of 56 years.God bless her!She is survived by daughter Mary Beth and her husband Steve Dienger of Winona, sons Mark Mansavage and his wife Jenny, and Bruce Mansavage and Susan Hanson, all of Pine City.
