Jim Rechtzigel died Sunday, February 9, 2014 at his East Rush Lake home at the age of 76.
Jim was born Oct 6, 1937; the 7th child to Ella and Leonard. He graduated from Rosemount HS and worked at St. Paul Ammonia Co. as a welder for several years. He went to trade school to become a plumber and worked in the plumbing industry for 28 years; retiring in 1999.
Jim loved being outdoors. He played fast pitch softball, was an avid hunter, trap-shooter and loved to fish nearly more than anything. Walleyes were his favorite quarry.
Jim was active in the Lutheran church, acting as a treasurer at St. John’s in Rosemount, a trustee at Emmanuel Lutheran and trustee on the cemetery board at St. John’s in Rush City.
In his retirement, Jim loved to garden and took up woodworking while wintering in Arizona.
He truly loved his family, friends and neighbors. He was famous for his sense of humor. His antics were laughed at till tears filled our eyes. We will miss his smile dearly.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lois, children: Steve Rechtzigel and his wife Sherry of Inver Grove Heights, Dean Rechtzigel and his wife Anna of Inver Grove Heights; grandchildren: Bethany Creech and her husband Will, Tyler Rechtzigel and his fiance’ Dani, Kelly Rechtzigel, Brad Rechtzigel; 4 brothers, 2 sisters, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Reverend John Beck will officiate the funeral service for Jim Rechtzigel at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rush City. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. before the service at the church.
Memorials preferred to St. John's Lutheran Church or American Cancer Society.
