Glenn Arthur Richardson, 82, of Pine City, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center on Wednesday, February 12, 2014.
Glenn was born in Owatonna, MN, on June 2, 1931. He attended Washington County Schools (Hudson Road/Woodbury/Oakdale) and graduated in 1945. He later attended the University of Minnesota, School of Agriculture.
Glenn enlisted in the Army National Guard, Stillwater, MN, in 1947 and was activated to the US Army in January of 1951. During this time he served overseas during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on Sept. 16, 1952. Following, Glenn ran a gas hauling business for a few years and then proceeded to work at Hudson Elevator for four years. During this time, Glenn married Lois Kay Hanson on May 7, 1955. In the fall of 1958, they moved to a farm in rural Braham, MN and farmed with his father. When his father passed away in 1971, Glenn continued farming until his retirement in 1993. He retired from farming but then drove fertilizer and feed trucks for Rush City Federated Co-op for ten years until fully retiring in 2004. Glenn and Lois moved to Pine City, MN, in 2004 as well. Glenn was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Grothe-Jacobson Post #6692.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lois; four children, James (Virginia) Richardson of Cambridge, MN; Linden (Karen) Richardson of Blaine, MN; Sherri Reynertson of Byron, MN; and Jeri (George) Neumann of Northfield, MN; sister, Ruth Golda of Oakdale; 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, an aunt, uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Glenn is preceded in death by son, Richard Richardson; parents, Clifford and Mildred Richardson; and brother, Donald Richardson.
Pastor Laurie O'Shea will officiate Glenn's funeral service; 2:00 p.m. Monday, (2/17/14) at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rush City. A time of visitation and reviewal is planned for 2 hours prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery at Rush Lake.
