Donovan Wayne Jones passed away peacefully at his home at Elderwood of Hinckley on April 20, 2014 at the age of 91.Donovan was born on October 2, 1922. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois where he graduated from high school.After high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served during WWII and was honorably discharged after being awarded two bronze star metals. Upon discharge from the service he moved to Moose Lake, Minnesota where he met his wife Gladys Davis.Donovan and Gladys had two children Douglas and Deborah. Donovan and his family enjoyed many summers filled with camping, traveling and fishing.Donovan retired as an investigator for Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. After 25 years of service to the State of Minnesota. He was proud of the fact that he was retired longer than he worked.Donovan and Gladys enjoyed traveling during retirement. They had their base home in Mahtowa, Minnesota.After his wife died, he made Donna, Texas his permanent home. In 2012 he moved back to Minnesota to be closer to his family.Donovan continued to enjoy and participate in his life-long hobbies of fishing, hunting, target practice and traveling abroad up until he turned 90 years old.He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys, sister Gloria Davis, brothers-in-law: Elmer Davis and Henry Davis; and his sister-in-law Irene Davis.He is survived by his children: Douglas (Gail) Jones, Deborah (Daniel) Rydberg; grandchildren: Erin Jones, Nathan (Jonelle) Jones, Kendra Jones, Anna Rydberg and Daniel Rydberg; great grandchildren: Sydney Rydberg-Olsen, Blaise Olsen, Solei Olsen, Arissa Rydberg, Lexie Rydberg and Addison Rydberg; sister-in-law Jerine Jones.He will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7th, 2014.Funeral arrangements for Donovan Jones are with the Funeral and Cremation Service of Pine City, Swanson Chapel.www.funeralandcremationservice.com
