Keith Shaw of Pine City and St. Paul Park, MN passed away peacefully April 30, 2014 at age 96, joining his beloved wife Clara.
Keith was born on March 23, 1918 at the family farm in Indian Creek Township near Hastings, Iowa. Though originally named Benjamin Keith, he went by Keith B. or nickname "Pete" his entire life. He grew up in the Hastings area and worked at farming and trucking. During WWII he worked at the Martin Plant in Omaha building B26 and B29 bombers and eventually became a respected truck mechanic.
In 1940 Keith married his life-long love, Clara Shepard and had three boys, Keith M. (Quad Cities), Robert (Rush City) and Allen (Pine City).
In the mid-50s, the family moved from Iowa to Montana where Keith maintained road construction trucks. In 1962, the family moved to St. Paul Park, MN where Keith worked at the Ajax Truck Stop in South St. Paul and Dahlen Trucking in Newport until he retired in the late 80s. He eventually moved to Pine City, MN where he lived with son Allen and family on the lower Snake River.
Keith was preceded in death by the love of his life, Clara, brother George, sister Wanda, and many other loved relatives.
He is survived by sons, Keith, Bob and Allen; daughters-in-law Linda, Elaine, Rita and Denise; grandchildren, Benjamin, Rodney, Rhonda, Liz and Becky; sisters-in-law Sharon and Betty; and many great grandchildren.
The family of Keith wishes to thank the entire nursing home staff of the Lakeside Medical Center for their kind hearts, sensitivity and professional care.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Swanson Chapel, 665 3rd Ave SW, Pine City, MN 55063 on Saturday, May 10, 2-4 p.m. with a brief memorial of sharing at 3 p.m.
