Renee Kelly Smith

Renee Kelly Smith was born on December 10, 1958 at home in Coon Rapids, MN to Ronald & Mavis Smith.  Renee was the second of eight children born to Ron & Mavis, there would be 5 girls & 3 boys. In the fall of 1968, the family moved to the farm near Rush City where they remain today.  Renee attended Rush City Elementary and Rush City High School where she graduated in 1977.  She then attended Pine Tech and graduated with a 2 year degree in Design. On October 18, 1976 Renee gave birth to Jennie Kay and on October 20, 1979 she gave birth to Nicole Marie.  Nikki & JJ were married on March 17, 2001 and blessed Renee with 5 wonderful grandchildren.  Jennie & Tim were married on March 6, 2006 and blessed Renee with another 4 wonderful grandchildren.  Renee absolutely adored her grandchildren and spent as much time with them as possible & loved buying them gifts. She loved watching movies & TV shows including reality TV like Big Brother & her soap opera's.  Renee enjoyed all kinds of music & loved to have her sweet treats with her all the time.  Renee loved going out to eat with family & friends, and most recently she found a great love for shopping.   But most of all, Renee loved being with her family for highway clean-up, the yearly pig roast and on any other occasion when we would all get together and she loved spending time with her many nieces and nephews.  Renee really loved taking pictures and became the family photographer who always had the picture you needed.  Renee also shared a special bond with her two Goddaughter's Natalie & Trisha and loved to spoil them. Renee was loved very much by her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her. She died at her home on June 19, 2014 at the age of 55.Renee is survived by her mother Mavis (Bruce) Smith of Rock Creek, daughters: Jennie (Tim) Hoverman of Osceola, WI, Nikki (J.J.) Lachinski of Braham, 9 grandchildren: Bobby, Alicia, Justin, Brooklin, Austin, Caleb, Cody, Brayden, and Ava; siblings: Rhonda (Travis) Swanson of Pine City, Rechele (Dan) Smith of St. Francis, Renita (Orrin) Bendickson of Rush City, Danny (Joni) Smith of Pine City, Roxy (Dave) Smith of Pine City, Dean (Lisa) Smith of Rush City, Dale (Sara) Smith of Braham, goddaughters: Natalie Cummings and Trisha Griffin, many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her father Ronald Smith and nieces Angie and Maria Smith. Funeral services for Renee Smith will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 25th at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rush City. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be Royalton Cemetery (Royalton township) at a later date. Arrangements are with the Funeral and Cremation Service of Rush City, Olson Chapel.
