Eda Augusta Maria Kalb-Bachmann

Eda Augusta Maria Kalb-Bachmann passed away on August 16, 2014 at Lakeside Medical Center at the age of 91. Eda was born on June 1, 1923 in Pokegama Township in Pine County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Henry & Mathilda (Bottin) Horns. She was brought to the Lord in the Sacrament of Holy Baptism administered on November 9, 1923 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Pine City. On April 10, 1938 she publicly confessed her faith in our Savior and became a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She grew to womanhood and married Rudolph Kalb. Together they farmed in Pine County and Eda worked at several local restaurants as a cook. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her precious gifts from God. Seven years after Rudy passed away she met and married Lester Bachmann and they were married until Lester's death in February of 2004. Eda Kalb is survived by her children Marie (Norman) Commerford of Danvers, Rudy (Linda) Kalb of Alexandria, Richard (Teresa) Kalb of Hinckley, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Adelia Hauff, son-in-law David Odendahl of Pine City, many nieces and nephews; step daughters: Darlene (Jarrod) Christen of Detroit Lakes, Colleen (Kenneth) Sazama of Dent, step sons: LeRoy (Eileen) Bachmann of Alexandria, Roger (Diane) Bachmann of Solway, Charles (Sue) Bachmann of Brainerd, several step grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. Eda was preceded in death by her husbands Rudy Kalb and Lester Bachmann, daughters Ruth Ann Kalb and Betty Odendahl, grandson Michael Commerford, siblings Anna DuVall and Henry and Paul Horns. Rev. Glenn Kleppe will officiate Eda's funeral service; 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (8/20/14) at Zion Lutheran Church in Pine City with a time of visitation and reviewal Tuesday evening from 4-7 p.m. at the Swanson Chapel in Pine City. Honorary Casket Bearers are David Horns, Gary Horns, Dennis Wilcox, David Odendahl, Mike Wilcox, Jerry Weis, Linda McMurray, Don Ubl and Gene Peterson. Casket bearers are Todd Commerford, Brian Kalb, Jon Kruse, Rod Williamson, Loren Skluzacek and Adam Skluzacek. Interment will be in the Birchwood Cemetery of Pine City.
