Helen LaVerne Woodall

June 9, 1942 — August 17, 2014

Mrs. Helen Falk-Woodall of Fridley; passed away Sunday (8/17/14) at the Unity Hospital in Fridley at the age of 72. Helen was born in Cambridge MN, but moved with her parents and sister to Minneapolis. Her parents divorced when she was three years old and Helen and her sister Dorothy went to live with their great aunt Nancy for a year and then sent to live with their Grandma Nida the next year. Their Grandma was very loving and gave them a good upbringing. They attended school in Cambridge until they went to live with their mother in Minneapolis. At 18 Helen had moved to Chicago with her cousin and met and married Robert Woodall. They divorced and Helen moved back to Minnesota to be closer to her family, she bought and old farmhouse in Fridley Minnesota and raised her five children there for many years. After the kids had grown Helen sold her house and moved into an apartment in Fridley. Since her early fifties Helen has suffered from poor health. She is a two time cancer survivor but this last cancer she lost her battle. The chemo treatments were too hard for her to handle, Helen was placed in the hospital where she passed away, the family made sure she was not alone when this happened. Family and friends have always been very important to Helen and she helped many people. Helen's faith in God is what kept her going and her love for her children. She loved going to family functions and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. But later her health prevented her from being able to do this. God had given Helen the peace she needed to overcome the challenges she faced with her health. Helen Woodall is survived by her children: Belinda (Jim) Mulligan of Blaine, Robert Woodall of St. Peter, Russell Woodall of Fridley, Carol Woodall (Robert Smith) of Powell, TN, James Woodall of Fridley; grandchildren: Kristina (Brian) Chose of Princeton, Jamie Mulligan of Cambridge, Matthew Mulligan (Bobi Simmer) of Blaine, Nicholas Woodall of Powell, TX, great grandchildren: Alisha Day, Jordan Day, Austin Chose, Johnathan Chose, Mackenzie Pruden, Ethan Pruden, Wyatt Rasmussen and Skylar Mulligan; her mother Millie LeMay of Rush City her sister: Dorothy (Jim) Swedeen of Cambridge, niece Brenda (Russ) Goebel of Cedar, nephew John (Jackie) Swedeen of Harris. She is preceded in death by her father Deloren Falk and her aunt Inez Chelberg. Reverend David Melin will officiate Helen's funeral service; 3:00 pm Wedesday, August 20, 2014. A time of visitation and reviewal will be held one hour prior also at the Rush City Baptist Church in Rush City. The interment will be in the Dale Baptist Cemetery at Dale.
