Leone Elizabeth Bier

Ms. Leone Bier of San Antonio, TX and formerly of Rush City; passed away Monday (7/28/14) in San Antonio, TX at the age of 95. Leone Elizabeth Bier was born April 29, 1919 in Rush City, Minnesota to Paul and Marie Bier. She graduated from Rush City High School in 1937 as Valedictorian of her class. After graduation she worked at Gillette Hospital in Minneapolis, and attended night school to study fashion and design. Her artistic talent opened the door to a long career in fashion and advertising in Minneapolis, Iowa, Tennessee, Indiana and New York City, where she was a vice-president at Wayne Knitting Mills. She retired in 1997 and returned to the family home in Rush City. Leone spent winters in Puerto Rico and San Antonio, Texas; where she lived the past four years with her sister, Theresa and family. She passed away July 28, 2014, at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Madeline, and her brothers Roman (Opal) and Leo. Leone Bier is survived by her sister Theresa (Edgar) Smith of San Antonio, TX, sister-in-law Jane Bier of St. Louis, MO ; nieces and nephews, Anne-Marie (Kordell) Kennemer of Oregon City, OR, Jessica Smith, Edgar Smith II, John Paul (Monika) Smith all of TX, and nine great nieces and nephews. Father Shane Wasinger will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, (9/18/14) at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rush City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass at the church. Leone's interment will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery of Rush City.
