Carla Marie Carlson, a Pine City resident since 1988, passed away from complications of liver cancer with family by her side on Saturday, September 13, 2014. She was 61 years old. Carla was born on February 9, 1953 in Minneapolis. Carla moved to Pine City in the summer of 1988 where she quickly became a popular member of the community. She worked around Pine City at several businesses including The American Legion, Village Inn, and Country Club as a cook, waitress, and bartender. Through her years living in Pine City Carla was involved in several community activities including Toys for Tots and bringing fireworks to Pine City. Carla loved to garden, go out with her friends, play on her computer and dote over her six grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Carla is survived by her husband Larry Carlson of Pine City, her oldest son Scott Filas of Pine City, and youngest child Adam Krebs of Pine City; five grandsons: Ryan Schwinn, Jaxxon Johnson, Joshua Filas, Lucas Heinle, Gavin Filas, and her great-grandson Jameson Schwinn; sister Cadence Donovan of Ham Lake; brother-in-law Leonard Donovan of Ham Lake. She was preceded in death by her mother Margaret, father Fred, daughter Heidi, sisters Carol Jean and Caroline, brothers Micheal and William. A Celebration of Life for Carla will be held for family and friends at the Heath Perkins American Legion in Pine City on Sunday, September 21, 2014 from noon to 4 p.m. A private inurnment will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with the Funeral and Cremation Service of Pine City, Swanson Chapel.
