Douglas Roy Teich was born March 8, 1947 to Roy and Harriet (Guetzkow) Teich in Rush City. He passed away at his home in rural Pine City on Friday, October 3, 2014 as a result of renal cancer at the age of 67. He spent most of his life in Pine City. Attending Pine City Schools, he graduated in 1965. Doug was drafted into the U. S. Army in 1966. He was stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Ft. Polk, Ft. Ord and Ft. Hood before being honorably discharged in May, 1968. On September 12, 1970, he married Diane Peterson in Pine City. They have two daughters: Erin, born in 1974 and Elena born in 1977. After working and living in the metro area for several years, Doug and Diane moved back to Pine City and Doug began working with his dad, Roy Teich at Pine City Fuel. Upon Roy’s retirement Doug and Diane purchased the station and continued to operate it until 2001. Doug went to work at Hinckley Chevrolet for a few years before finding his ideal job at the new Ace Hardware in Pine City. Doug loved hunting and fishing and spending time with his family. He especially liked spending time with his three grandsons, who lovingly called him “Ferret”. In addition, he enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips with close friends. In earlier years he did a lot of bowling and golfing. He had many wonderful friends and enjoyed his life. Doug is survived by wife, Diane, daughters, Erin (Ben) Johnson, Elena (Dan Wiley), grandsons Tristan, Connor and Brody Johnson, sister Jane (Dean) Sandberg, mother-in-law Marie Peterson, aunt Pat Teich, nine nieces and nephews, many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Harriet Teich, brother, David Teich, father-in¬-law, Kenneth Peterson, grandparents, other relatives and several close friends. Reverend Vicki VanderVegt will officiate a memorial service on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Pine City. A time of visitation will take place on Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. also at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Birchwood Cemetery in Pine City. MEMORIALS ARE PREFERRED TO: Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Fisher House, or the American Cancer Society.
