Lucille Blaisdell passed away Friday (10/3/14) at her residence; Eastwood Care Center in Mora at the age of 94.
Lucille was born August 23, 1920 to Leon and Vera Morley in New Auburn, Wisconsin. She graduated from the New Auburn High School. In October of 1938 she was united in marriage to Edwin (Bud) Blaisdell in New Auburn. They moved to his family's farm in Amery, Wisconsin where they lived until 1941, when they moved to Detroit, Michigan. In 1943 they moved back to Amery for a short time before moving to New Richmond, Wisconsin in 1944. Bud worked at the Maple Island Creamery until the plant closed in 1951. He was then transferred to the Maple Island plant in Rush City, where they were living at the time of his death in 1980.
Lucille worked in the East Central Electric office in Rush City for over 25 years. She retired in 1983, and at that time decided to sell her home and move back to New Auburn, Wisconsin. After living there for 7 years she moved back to Rush City to be closer to family and her many friends. She moved to Mora in 2002 where she lived at the time of her death.
Lucille was a voracious reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She was a 60 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she held many offices and was an active participant. She was also a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City, which she considered to be here home church no matter where she lived.
Lucille is survived by her two sons: Ernest (Dolores) Blaisdell of Mora, Charles (Gunvor) Blaisdell of Ryomgard, Denmark; grandchildren: Lori (Michael) Schulz of Andover, Robert (Stacy) Blaisdell of Buffalo, Kristin (Ross) Graves of Mora, Eric Blaisdell of Battle Lake, Jesse Blaisdell of Seattle, WA; 8 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, her sister-in-law Nadine Morley of Eau Claire, WI, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leon and Vera Morley, husband Bud Blaisdell and siblings: Charlotte (Howard) Waterhouse, Helen (Charles) Miller, Betty Lou (Hugh) Reed, Leonard (Marilyn) Morley and Dale Morley.
Reverend Laurie O'Shea will officiate at Lucille's funeral service; 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (10/8/14) at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City with a time of visitation and reviewal Tuesday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the Olson Chapel in Rush City.
Interment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery of Rush City.
