Alyce Mae Lere

April 11, 1933 — October 12, 2014

Alyce Mae Lere passed away at her home in Pine City on Sunday October 12, 2014 at the age of 81. Alyce was known as Alyce Avon, T-Fal Alyce, Alere, mom, grandma, GiGi, and grandma Alyce. She was a master gardener, a red hatter, and founder of the veggie pie at the Minnesota State Fair. Alyce was an avid sports fan and had a hole in one to her credit. She greeted everyone she met with a smile and if you were her friend, it lasted forever. She now joins her husband and son and leaves behind many friends and loved ones. She is survived by her sons: Steven Lere and his wife Karen of Biwabik, Marty Lere of Pine City, grandchildren: Tara, Julie, Jared, and Courtney Lere; great-grandchildren: Samantha, Caleb, Bradley, Brigette and Brynn; her siblings: Gwen Larson, Sharon and her husband Tom, Richard Nelson and his wife Barbara, Charles Nelson and his wife Kathy. She is preceded in death by her parents Clarence & Dallas (Coyne) Nelson, husband Fred Lere Jr., son Jeffrey Lere and her sister Claire Nelson. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Swanson Funeral Chapel of Pine City. A time of visitation will take place one hour prior to the service also at the Swanson Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will be in the Forest Hills Cemetery in Duluth, Minnesota.
