Mrs. Evelyn Dahlberg of Rush City; passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at her home in Rush City at the age of 94. Evelyn Lucille was born May 15, 1920 and grew up with her three siblings in Rush City, MN. Evelyn graduated from Rush City High School in 1938 and then attended St. Cloud Teachers College. After college, she met and married Lester Olson in 1941. Her first born child Jim, was born in Rush City. From then on married life with Lester was split between living in Rush City and traveling the U.S. to various duty stations. When Lester went overseas Evelyn returned to Rush City and their daughter Judy was born. A few months later Lester was killed in 1945 (WWII). After the war, Evelyn met Donald Dahlberg. They were married on Valentine’s Day 1946. The small family moved to St. Paul where Darrel was born. In 1950 help was needed at Hazel and Elmer’s farm. Evelyn and Don moved to Rush City and bought the farm where she would spend the rest of her life. Evelyn spent the next 15 years working the farm, caring for her home and raising her family. Tim, Kristie and Dave were all born during this time. In 1966 when Dave was old enough to go to school, Evelyn returned to teaching full time. She taught until her retirement in 1982. Evelyn loved to travel. Throughout her life she had the opportunity to see most of the US. Evelyn enjoyed eating out, fishing and spending time with friends and family. Evelyn was a member of the First Lutheran Church, The Ladies Circle, The VFW Woman’s Auxiliary, The Friendly Neighborhood Club and the North Chicago Historical Society. The last years of Evelyn’s life was devoted to her friends, family and church. She was always there to lend an ear, attend a party or offer a hug. Evelyn is Survived by her children: Jimmie (Sylvia) Olson of Grand Rapids, Judy (Patrick) Wells of St. Louis Park, Darrel (Cheryl) Dahlberg of Superior, WI, Timothy (Carol) Dahlberg of Ogilvie, Kristie (Randy) Ziesmer of Rush City, David (Camelle) Dahlberg of Hutchinson; 17 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law: Evelyn Anderson of Eagan, Arlene Dahlberg of Rush City and Evelyn Dahlberg of California. Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents Elmer & Hazel (Jacoway) Anderson, her husbands Lester Olson and Donald Dahlberg, brothers: Delbert Anderson, Lyle (Delores) Anderson; sister Betty (John) Turok, and her special friend Chet Parrish. Reverend Laurie O'Shea will officiate funeral services for Evelyn Dahlberg at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 1st at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church located at 1000 S. Jay Ave. Rush City. A time of visitation and reviewal is scheduled for Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Olson Chapel in Rush City and also one hour prior to the service at the church. The interment will be in the Mission Covenant Cemetery of Rush City.
