Charlotte Ann Jacoway

Mrs. Charlotte Jacoway of Rush City; passed away Friday (10/31/14) at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis at the age of 87. Charlotte Ann Hansen was born on September 20, 1927 to Art & Anna Hansen in St. Paul, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Gustavus Adolphus Church in St. Paul, MN. She graduated in 1945 from Johnson High School. She was introduced to Bob Jacoway by her close friend (Bob's cousin) Betty (Anderson) Turok in 1947. Char & Bob wed on April 3, 1948 at Gustavus Adolphus Church, and they began a farming career in the Rush City area. Their son Larry (1956) and daughter Deborah (1958) were adopted into the family through Lutheran Social Services. Three babies were lost in childbirth. Bob passed away on May 18, 1972 and Charlotte worked jobs at the Rush City Schools as a cook and janitor. Char retired and continued to live in the Rush City area. Charlotte enjoyed dancing, friends, travel and family gatherings. She also enjoyed crocheting and she loved to read when she had her eyesight. Char was a devoted grandmother who enjoyed finding adventures and sharing experiences with her grandsons Michael & Jared. Charlotte was a 66 year member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rush City, was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Friendly Neighbors Club. Charlotte is survived by her children: Larry Jacoway of St. Paul and Debbie (Royal) Carlson of Braham; grandsons: Michael Carlson of North Branch, Jared (Amanda) Carlson of Fort Lee, VA; great grandchildren: Brooklynn and Marcus Carlson; brothers: James Hansen, Charles Hansen both of St. Paul. She is preceded in death by parents Arthur & Anna (Fiss) Hansen, husband Robert Jacoway, three infant children. Rev. Laurie O'Shea will officiate at funeral services for Char Jacoway Wednesday (11/5/14) at 11:00 am at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church 1000 S. Jay Ave. Rush City. A time of visitation and reviewal is scheduled for one hour prior to service at the church. The interment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery of Rush City.
