Jack Paul Stumne

June 12, 1943 — December 2, 2014

Jack  Stumne passed away very unexpectedly, as a result of an auto accident, December 2, 2014 in Sandstone, MN at the age of 71. Jack was born on June 12,1943 in Pine City He was the firstborn child of Ione (Davis) and Arnie Stumne. Jack was raised on the little Stumne farm in Grasston. In the 1960's, Jack's family moved across the road to a larger farm. As a young child Jack enjoyed playing in the woods, playing Tarzan, climbing tress, and fishing with his dad. As a young boy Jack helped on the family farm and attended grade school at Garves Bay School. He then attended Pine City High School where he participated in track and was a strong runner. During his high school days Jack worked at a local gas station in Pine City and joined the Army at age 17.  During his three year enlistment in the U.S. Army, Jack was stationed in Bamberg, Germany.   After his service in the military, Jack returned to Pine City to work as a truck driver and laborer in various construction job positions.  Jack was employed by Olympic Construction and Kraus-Anderson working in Nevada on projects at UNLV and the Frontier Casino. Jack was a handy man who was able to fix anything! He taught his family his trades and hobbies whether it was fishing, hunting, or construction. After returning to Pine City from Nevada Jack was self employed working in residential drywall and taping. Jack raced snowmobile in his younger years. He also enjoyed riding motorcycle, trapping, fishing, hunting, four-wheeling, camping, collecting guns, driving his 75 corvette, and spending time with his family. Riding his Harley motorcycle, Jack would travel to Sturgis, South Dakota and Laughlin, Nevada for the River Run with his brother Mike. Jack was also a fan of motocross and attended several motocross races around the state to watch his sons compete. Jack loved visits from his grandchildren and spending time with them. Jack had a contagious smile, he was a caring individual who would help anyone in need. He loved to talk and visit with others for hours.  He had some great stories to tell about his life. Jack is survived by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. his mother Ione Stumne, brothers Mike Stumne, Steve (Val) Stumne, and sister Becky (Rick) True, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jack is preceded in death by his father Arnie Stumne, uncles Jim Davis,Warren Davis and Stanley Davis, aunts Dory and Ethel, grandparents Elmer and Effie Stumne, Florence Maben, and Tracy Davis.The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the Swanson Funeral Chapel of Pine City. A time of visitation and reviewal will be held on Monday evening from 5-8:00 p.m. also at the Swanson Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors will be in the Birchwood Cemetery in Pine City.
