Duane “Duke” Herman Klande, age 83, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, January 10, 2015.
Duane was born on October 4, 1931 to Herman “Butch” & Emma (Schultz) Klande in Pine City where he was raised and spent the rest of his life. He was one of six children. He spent his working years doing construction and upon retirement went on to building spec homes.
January 8, 1955 he married his sweetheart, his “punkin” Genell. Last Thursday marked 60 years of marriage for Duane and Genell. They were the best of friends and companions. They may have bickered and gave each other a hard time one minute but in the next were laughing and loving each other. He was the peanut butter and she was his jelly, they loved each other through thick and thin. They began their family with Brion, next Rocky, Wendy and Todd. His kids were his world, by their side at all times. His heart was huge, extending onto his grandkids and great grandkids. That sparkle in his eyes said it all!
His hobbies included fishing, puzzles, playing cards, garage sale-ing with his two sidekicks Genell and daughter Wendy, the sales barn on Wendesday’s, including coffee time with buddies and time with family.
Duane will be missed greatly by his family and friends, we can find comfort in knowing that he is “still kicking” in heaven.
He is survived by his wife Genell, children: Brion (Audrey) Klande of Brook Park, Rocky Klande of Pine City, Wendy (Terry) Leger of Grasston, Todd (Michelyn) Klande of Brook Park; grandchildren: Jessy (Cydelle) Klande, Mitchell (Raechell) Klande, Rickey Klande, Rodney Klande, Derek (Chana) Klande, Alicia (Jonah) Babolik, Corey (Cassie) Leger, and TJ Leger; great grandchildren: Corbin, Hunter, Kara, Kayla, Kody, Riker, Kaiya, Aden, Eli, Logan, Cason, Brayden, and Parker; sisters: Verna Trudeau of Shaffer, Barbara Klande of Burnsville, Linda Howard of Minneapolis; sister-in-law Bonnie Klande of Brook Park.
