Stanley Valentine Tomczyk was born in Minneapolis Nov 23, 1921 to Valentine and Mary (Kobylarczyk) Tomczyk the fifth of twelve children. Stan grew up in N.E. Minneapolis. He attended Holy Cross School and graduated from Vocational High School with a major in tailoring. The next four years Stan served his country in the United States Marine Corps during WW II in the Pacific Theatre.
All of Stan's work life was spent driving truck. He drove truck in the Marine Corps, drove Greyhound Bus for a while; but the majority of his life was spent driving delivery truck for Donaldson's Department Store.
Besides loving his family, Stan loved fishing, golfing, woodworking, classical music and model railroading. He was free with his storytelling, his knowledge and the products of his interests; giving away many stools, cabinets and countless fish. He will be sorrowfully missed around Rush Lake.
Stanley Tomczyk lived a full life and passed peacefully at home on West Rush Lake; March 21, 2015 at the age of 93. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, his daughter Vicky (Phil) Nelson of Cumberlund, WI, sons Tom (Kathy) Tomczyk of Keizer, OR, David (Kristine) Tomczyk and Bill (Ruth) Tomczyk all of Rush City; grandchildren; Becky (Justin) Spoelstra, Molly, Christopher, Bethany Tomczyk, Elizabeth, Sophie Tomczyk, Jill, Erin, Lisa, Jenna Tomczyk, great grandchildren: Logan & Austin, sisters Sophie (Bob) Hudoba of Mpls, Rose Stanaert of Chicago, sister-in-law Marge Tomczyk of Mpls and many nieces and nephews.
Stan was preceded in death by his oldest son Michael Tomczyk, parents, 8 brothers and 1 sister.
Stan's Godson, Father Stan Sledz and his nephew Deacon Tom Quayle will con-celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial; 11:00 am Saturday with visitation 1 hr prior at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Rush City. Music will be provided by Allyssa Mattson, Michael Johnson and Cathie Hendren.
A time of visitation is planned for one hour prior to the Mass on Saturday at church.
The interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery of Rush City with Military Honors provided by the Grothe-Jacobson VFW, Rush City American Legion and the Minnesota National Guard.
