Marvin Potter of Rock Creek, MN lost his battle to Melanoma Cancer on March 26, 2015 at the University of Minnesota Hospital at the age of 77. At the time of his death, Marvin was surrounded by his family. Marvin Delmar Potter was born on December 30, 1937 in St. Charles, Minnesota to Jarvin and Helen (Splittstoesser) Potter. He was the oldest of 8 siblings. Marvin began driving truck in 1956. Marvin had a variety of driving jobs including a dump truck driver, tow truck driver and driving over the road. Marvin drove truck for Totino's Pizza for many years and drove over the road up until the time of his illness. Marvin’s passion of truck driving showed over the years with almost 60 years of driving and putting on several million miles across the United States. Some of Marvin’s hobbies included fishing, hunting and going to stock car races. Every year he tried to get to several World of Outlaw Sprint car races with his kids. Some of his favorite Sprint car drivers were Sammy Swindell and Doug Wolfgang. He also enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and reading his newspaper. Marvin is survived by his wife 55 years, Sandra (Cairl) Potter, daughter Kim (Gary) Schwinn of Rush City, Sons Kevin Potter of Rock Creek, Kenny (Doreen) Potter of Beroun, Kelly Potter of Beroun, Kurtiss (Cecilia) Potter of Liberal, Kansas and Keith (Angela) Potter of Rock Creek, 13 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, and 17 great grandchildren, siblings Lois (Joe) Hollenkamp of St. Paul, Neva (Gordon) Carlstrom of Hinckley, Richard (Vicky) Potter of Little Canada, Rita (Joe) Momsen of Little Canada, Roger (Jacque) Potter of Finlayson, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, Jarvin and Helen Potter, brother William Potter, sister Beverly Johnson and granddaughter Melissa Lindman. A memorial service is planned for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday (3/31/15) with a time of visitation 2 hours prior at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City.
