Abel Theodore Korf

May 19, 1936 — April 7, 2015

Abel T. Korf was born on May 19, 1936 in Milaca, MiN to Henry and Elsie Korf. He grew up in Pine City, Minnesota where he graduated from high school in 1955. In 1959, he married the love of his life, Bonnie Berg. Abe and Bonnie were married for 56 years. Together they had three children – Steve, Ted, and Susie. In 1960, Abe bought a garbage service and made that his career until health problems forced him to retire. Abe was blessed with 8 beautiful grandchildren – Ashley, Tessa, Jenna, Danielle, Shane, Dusty, Brody and Emily. He was so proud of each and every one of them. He was also blessed to have two great grandchildren, Noah and Ryann, whom he loved dearly, and a third great grandchild (Baby Fratzke) on the way.Abe’s passion was hunting and fishing. He made a trip to Montana with his boys, Steve and Ted and son-in-law Doug, for an elk hunt. Ted was able to bag a bull elk on that trip and Abe was so proud! He had so many great stories about hunting and fishing trips he took with his dad, his brother Henry and his boys. It seems there was always something funny that happened during these trips. In 1992, Abe and Bonnie purchased a cabin on Jessie Lake in Talmoon, Minnesota. That place was by far Abe’s favorite place on earth. He would get his fishing poles and minnows and head for the dock in the early morning hours. He would sit at the end of that dock all day just enjoying the beautiful view and catching fish. The cabin was his “Heaven on Earth.”Abe died Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at GracePointe Crossing in Cambridge, Minnesota at the age of 78 years.Abe is survived by his wife Bonnie, children Steve Korf of Pine City, Ted Korf of Pine City, Susie (Doug) Fore of Brook Park, 8 grandchildren: Ashley Korf, Tess Korf, Jenna (Dustin) Fore-Fratzke, Danielle (Nate) Horbacz, Shane Korf, Dusty Fore, Brody Korf, and Emily Korf; 2 great grandchildren: Noah and Ryann; brother Henry (Janice) Korf of Pine City, brother-in-law Mel Hanson of Pine City, many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Henry & Elsie (Dykstra) Korf, sisters: Millie Korf and Ruthie Hanson.Funeral services for Abe Korf are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City.
