Edward Belko

October 23, 1929 — April 6, 2015

Edward Belko of Pine City, died Monday (4/6/15) at the Lakeside Medical Center in Pine City at the age of 85 years.Eddie was born in Trenton, Pennsylvania to Andrew and Mary Belko.  He moved at the age of five to Minnesota, where as a young adult he worked the family farm until he went into the Korean War and served in the Military Police for two years.Eddie met Delphine Stoffel and married her June 19, 1954.  They were married for sixty years and have four children.  Eddie continued to farm until 1966, when he started working at the Pine City High School as a janitor.  He enjoyed this job tremendously, working with the staff and students.  Eddie made many long lasting friendships at the school.  He retired with twenty eight years of service.  Traveling was his avocation after retirement.  He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and dancing.  Also, his grandchildren and great grandchildren were very special to him. Edward is survived by his wife Delphine, children Steven (Carol) Belko of Pine City, Barbara (Al) Klocke of Pine River, Jerry (Dawn) Belko of Brooklyn Park, Sandy (Jon Rousu) Friedland of Rochester, 11 grandchildren: Candi (Mike) Hurd, Jeremy (Reina) Klocke, Shawn (Cathy) Klocke, Dawn (Travis) Nepsund, Jeff (Samantha) Belko, Amanda (Cody) Reimer, Alyssa Belko, Joshua Belko (Stacy), Kendra Friedland, Janae Belko, Jaylene Belko; 11 great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Andrew Belko, mother Mary Pangerl, step-father Rudy Pangerl, brothers: John, Andrew, and Tony. Monsignor Alexsander Suchan will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial; 10:30 a.m. Monday (4/13/15) at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pine City. A time of visitation and reviewal is planned for one hour prior to the service at church and Sunday evening from 4-8 pm at the Swanson Funeral Chapel with a 7:00 pm prayer service. The interment will take place in the Calvary Cemetery in Pine City with military honors.
