Alfred Hendrickson was born in Northfield, MN on May 23, 1925 to Mr. Gust Hendrickson and Selma (Shultz) Hendrickson.
Currently a resident of Elderwood of Hinckley, Al is formerly of Pine City and Mora. He died Wednesday (4/8/15) at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 89 years.
He attended school in Milaca, MN and joined the U.S. Navy during WWII. Al spent six years as an Aviation Radioman from March 1944 to December of 1949.
After being discharged, Al worked on the Iron Range in Minnesota as a truck driver.
In 1952, Al joined the U.S. Army in the Army Security Agency and worked as a Morse code interceptor and radio finger printer. He met and married Betty James in Milaca and the family increased with a daughter and two sons.
For over 21 years, Al’s vocation was a U.S. Postal employee in Mora. His avocation was flying. He greatly enjoyed flying and having his private pilot license. He was also an accomplished picture painter and sports enthusiast.
Al Hendrickson is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Jean Matson of Pine City, sons Robert Hendrickson of Onamia, Gary Hendrickson of TX, grandchildren Jeremy (Samantha) Matson, Emily Hendrickson, Wyatt Hendrickson, great grandson Aiden Matson, sisters Marion Jernigan of Moose Lake, Lillian Gothberg of NV, and several nieces and nephews.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Willis and Ray Hendrickson, his half-sister Bernice Love and his half-brother Harold Hendrickson
Funeral Services are planned for; 3:00 p.m. Monday (4/13/15) at the Swanson Chapel in Pine City. A time of visitation is planned for one hour prior to the service.
The interment will take place in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca.
