Dale Petersen passed away Sunday (4/12/15) at the Lyngblomsten Care Center in St. Paul at the age of 83.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Ann Petersen, children Polly (Tim) Fahey of Longville, Peter Rite of North St. Paul, Marla Mills of White Bear, Mark (Mary Jo) Mills of Wyoming, Marilee Mills of Vadnais Heights, Melanie Piha of White Bear, grandchildren Shaun, Sondra, Kathy, Elizabeth, Ryan, Adam, Joshua, Sean, Melissa, Ashley, Makayla, Meghan and many great grandchildren. Dale is also survived by his brother Larry (Karen) Petersen of WA, sisters Delores (Harvy) Pierce of Spicer, Lois Simon of Shoreview and many nieces and nephews.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents John and Alice Petersen, son Michael Mills and brother Donald (Joyce) Petersen.
Dale was born October 2, 1931 in Atwater, Minnesota to John and Alice Petersen. He grew up in the Spicer area and graduated from Willmar High School. Dale served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He served from June of 1952 to July of 1955 and was discharged as a Staff Seargent. Dale was a brick layer by trade and later went on to become an insurance agent for American Family Insurance Company.
Recently, while a resident of Lyngblomsten Care Center, Dale was featured in a KARE11 news program. It highlighted a little dog "Nala" who would visit the care center and became especially attached to Dale. Nala provided a special sense of peace and comfort for the residents, most especially Dale. The Petersen family wishes to thank the staff at Lyngblomsten for the special care given to Dale during his last year.
Pastor Joel Preston will officiate a funeral service for Dale Petersen;11:00 am Saturday (4/18/15) at the Pine City Evangelical Free Church (Lighthouse-1045 Main St. Pine City) with a time of visitation and reviewal one hour prior to the funeral at the church and Friday evening from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Swanson Chapel in Pine City.
The interment will be in the Hustletown Union Cemetery northeast of Pine City.
