Steven Donald Guentzel died Friday at age 58 in his home in Rush City, MN, after a battle with cancer.Steve was born November 25, 1956, in Grand Rapids, MN. He grew up in Floodwood, MN and graduated from Floodwood High School in 1975. Following high school, he worked in the Minntac mines until the 1980s and later began a career in terrazzo flooring. It was also the early 80s when he met his future wife, Maureen. In 1984 they got married in Hibbing, MN. They started their family in 1985 with the birth of Kristopher. After moving to Rush City, they expanded their family with the birth of Stephanie in 1993. Steve is survived by his wife, Maureen, and his two children, Kristopher (Amanda) and Stephanie. He is also survived by parents Donald and Lorraine Guentzel, sisters LoAnn (Bud) Reponen and Raelene (Brian) Jarvi, and brothers-in-law Terrence (Connie) French and Jay (Theresa) French. Joining survivors are aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Steve will be remembered fondly as a fun-loving father, avid sports fan, and life of the party. As his favorite T-shirt read, he’ll “always be loved at the Roadhouse,” and is now loved in God’s house where he’ll reside forever. Funeral services for Steve Guentzel will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday May 5, 2015 at First Lutheran Church of Harris. A time of visitation and reviewal will be on Monday, May 4, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City and one hour prior to the service at the church.
