Jean Steltz; Mrs. Lyle Steltz, of Rush City, died Thursday (5/21/15) at Ecumen of North Branch at the age of 79 years. Jean is survived by her children Bonnie & Neil Anderson of Lake Elmo, Rick & Holly Steltz of Rush City, Ron & Marni Steltz of Braham, Ken Steltz of Rush City; Grandchildren Joel Anderson (Anya Feichtl) of Billings, MT, Greg (Carl Berdahl) Anderson of Los Angeles, CA, Jeff (Libby Smith) Anderson of Minneapolis, Heather Silenskiene (Egidijus Silenskis) of Denver, CO, Andrew Steltz of Crystal, Savannah Mans (Patrick Vail) of Hugo, Lauren Steltz of Braham, Ella Steltz of Braham; great-grandson Wyatt Mans of Hugo. Jean Steltz is preceded in death her husband Lyle Steltz, her parents, Rose & Roland Heckeroth, brother Jerry Heckeroth, sister-in-law Norma (Donald) Pollack Jean Steltz was born April 11, 1936 in Nessel Township, Chisago County, Minnesota to Rose and Roland Heckeroth. She attended the Rohlf country school through eight grade and graduated from Rush City High School.  Jean was baptized, confirmed and married at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rush City. Married to Lyle Ernest Steltz, May 14, 1955, the couple made their home in Moundsview for a short time. But, Jean longed for the farm and in 1959 the family moved to the Heckeroth family farm where they farmed and had dairy and beef cattle. Besides being the consummate homemaker, Jean was active as a school volunteer and 4-H Leader when the children were growing up. She was also Lyle’s assistant in whatever and wherever he was working; dairy and beef for several years, installing fireplaces in many, many homes around the area, the Chisago County Fair Tractor pedal pulls and performing Minnesota State Fair Board duties. Rev. Laurie O'Shea will officiate at a funeral service for Jean Steltz; 3:00 pm Saturday (5/30/15) with a time of visitation one hour prior at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rush City.  An interment is planned in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery at Rush Lake. Memorials preferred to the Rush City food Shelf.
