Miriam Ryan of Pine City passed away at the Lakeside Medical Center Monday, July 6, 2015 at the age of 94. Miriam was born July 26, 1920 in Duluth, she was the only child of Wilfred and Ivy (Guerin) Young.
Miriam married Francis (Frank) Mueller with whom she had seven children. The Mueller family was living in St. Paul when Frank died April 22, 1957.
Miriam married Thomas Ryan Sr. a widower on October 4, 1958 and expanded an already large family by five children. Miriam and Tom added two more children to the family. Miriam and Tom moved from St. Paul to Pine City in August of 1961 where many of the family currently reside. Miriam was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, her religion and strong faith being an integral part of her life. Miriam was a water colorist late in life and provided much of the art her family enjoys in their homes. She was a wonderful cook and baker, teaching her family well the meaning of good, nutritious meals with the added enjoyment of a delectable dessert. Miriam loved playing cards, especially Marathon Bridge with many women friends and 500 at the American Legion every Thursday where she made many friends. Miriam was widowed again in 2000. Miriam lived on her own until February of 2010, when failing health due to Parkinson ’s disease made it a necessity for her to move to Lakeside Medical Center.
Miriam is survived by: Miriam and Frank’s children: Carol (Roger) Abdella, Thomas Mueller (Susan Molloy), Rosemary (Lawrence) Perreault,
Paul (Judy) Mueller, Gloria (Ralph) Baker, Mary (Dennis) Willert,
Therese (Richard) Prihoda; Thomas Ryan’s children: Kathleen (Terrance) Oakes, Constance (Thomas) Oakes, Patricia (Denis) Paine; Miriam and Tom’s children: Shawn (Douglas) Johnson, Michael Ryan.
She is also survived by 100 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Miriam was preceded in death by her parents Wilfred & Ivy Young,
and her husbands; Frank Mueller and Thomas Ryan Sr., step sons; Thomas Ryan Jr. and John Ryan, and infant grandson Patrick Johnson.
Father Joseph Sirba will celebrate Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday July 9, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pine City with visitation one hour prior to the mass at the church. A time of visitation and reviewal will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. rosary and prayer service at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City.
