Edward “Jack” John Cunnien passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Margaret S. Parmly Residence in Chisago City at the age of 80. Ed was born to Edward Joseph and Rose (Bauman) Cunnien on March 11, 1935 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Jack attended Saint Agnes elementary and Wilson High School in St. Paul, Minnesota. He served his country in the Marine Corps for three years. Jack was employed with the Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railway as a diesel electrician for thirty years. Jack loved watching the Minnesota Vikings play, fishing and he especially enjoyed visiting with his grandchildren. Jack is survived by his wife Betty of Pine City, children Tracy (Steve) Tomy of St. Paul, Bob Mhyre of Pine City, Dan (Cindy) Cunnien of Ham Lake, David (Deb) of Pine City, Doug (Shannon) of Pine City, Larry Guertin, David Guertin, 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sister Rosemary Leopold of Roseville, sisters-in-law Marie Cunnien, Helen Pollreis, many nieces, nephews and friends. Jack was preceded in death by his parents Edward & Rose (Bauman) Cunnien, son Gregory Mhyre, brothers Roger Cunnien and Tom Cunnien and sister Alice Guertin. Father Shane Wasinger will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial for Ed at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 6 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rush City. A time of visitation is planned for Monday, October 5, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at the Olson Chapel in Rush City. There will also be visitation 1 hour prior to the Mass at the church. The interment will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Rush City with Military Honors provided by the Grothe-Jacobson VFW, Rush City American Legion and the Minnesota National Guard.
