Thomas Eldon Roth Yousey was born on December 12, 1950 to Onalee “Donna” Yousey and Joseph Yousey in Buffalo, New York. He died on October 15, 2015 in Harris, Mn at the age of 64 years Tom died accidentally, riding his beloved motorcycle on a beautiful fall day. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Lori Roth-Yousey, his children Aaron (Katie) Yousey, Lisa (Leno) Sorriento and their children Carlos and Joe, Onalee Roth Yousey and Sophia Roth Yousey. He is also survived by brothers Dennis Yousey (Barbara), Randy (Joy) Yousey, Lytong (Ka) Lysongtseng, sister Shirley Gawlik, mother-in-law and father-in-law Dorothy and David Roth and many nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Onalee “Donna” Yousey and his brother-in-law Joe Gawlik. Tom was a committed husband of 25 years and a father. He loved generously and sacrificially. Tom was patient, always listening and giving a second chance. Tom was a phenomenal teacher—of elementary and high school, Sunday School, basic car maintenance, and deer hunting skills. He was a servant leader and a generous role model for all. He was the best listener. Tom’s hobbies were adventure—canoeing, motorcycling, fishing, hunting, camping, and enjoying time with friends and family. He loved the outdoors! He spent free time “in the woods” preparing for deer season, hiking, and learning about wildlife. He always invited friends and family to join him hunting, chopping wood, and target shooting. Tom loved a good book, a good conversation with an old or new friend, and watching a good baseball game. Tom loved the Lord and for more than 40 years, he taught children, youth, and adult Sunday school class, mentored countless young men, and raised four children to follow the Lord. Tom was baptized in 1962 and read his Bible every day. Tom was a member of Wayland Mennonite Church in Wayland, Iowa, and was active in teaching Sunday school class with his wife at Harris Covenant Church in Harris, Minnesota. Tom worked for the United States Postal Service for 42 years, retiring in 2013 after dedicating his life to public service. He is remembered as a wise and patient teacher and leader. Tom inspired integrity in everyone who worked with him. While working for the USPS, Tom attended and graduated from Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota with a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership. Rev. Steve Weihsmann will officiate a funeral service for Tom; 11:00 AM Wednesday (10/21/15) at the Harris Covenant Church in Harris, MN. with a time of visitation and reviewal Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at the Olson Chapel in Rush City and one hour prior to the funeral at church on Wednesday. Tom will be buried in the Eicher Mennonite Cemetery in Wayland Iowa; prior to a 2:00 PM funeral service Thursday (10/22/15) at the Wayland Mennonite Church in Wayland, Iowa.
