Carol Gorman passed away Wednesday, December 02, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Rush City at the age of 81.
Carol Joan (Bove) Gorman was born October 29, 1934 in Minneapolis, MN to Robert and Amelia (Strick) Bove. She graduated from South High School in Minneapolis in 1952. On September 17, 1955 she married John D. Gorman. From this union the couple raised six children. The years 1960 through 1970 were spent living in Coon Rapids. It was here that John and Carol became active snowmobilers and involved in the Crooked Lake Snow Barons. Carol designed a jacket patch for the club which she sewed on many Snow Baron jackets.
In 1970, the family moved from Coon Rapids to Rush City, MN. Carol taught CCD classes at Epiphany and Sacred Heart Catholic Churches. She was also an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and held local, district and state offices. She loved to cook and was a volunteer cook at many Eagles events and church functions. For many years, Carol made birthday cakes for the local nursing home. She could sew anything and made all of her five daughter’s wedding dresses. She liked crafts, knitting, crocheting. Carol loved visiting Rhinelander, Wisconsin and Las Vegas, Nevada. From 1958 through 1973, Carol and John enjoyed cabin life on Long Lake near Hawick, MN.
Carol is survived by her children Joan (Dean) Shinler of Stanchfield, John (Doreen) Gorman, Jill (Ron) Whittaker, Jane (Scott) Scherer, Julie (Brian) Stottler, Jeanette McCall all of Rush City;grandchildren: Tracey Shinler, Kelly (Claressa) Gorman, Kari (Josh) Witte, Karissa (Greg)Matson, Amy (Corey) Perell, Anny (Paul) Jarvis, Justin(Hannah) Whittaker, Abby Scherer, Jacob Scherer, Bradley Stottler, Breann Stottler, Kevin McCall, and Cory McCall; great-grandchildren: Kaden and Kellen Gorman, Bailey and Ashton Witte, Lorynn, Jesse and Mackenzie Perell, and Carson and Matthew Jarvis, Liam Whittaker, Kyrie Imbu; brother James (Mary Ann) Bove of Morris; sisters-in-law Muriel Snow and Rosemary Mogren both of White Bear Lake; many nieces and nephews.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Amelia (Strick) Bove; husband John Gorman; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Dorothy (Ken) Lukaska, Harold Snow, Joan (John) Kroening, Bill Murray and Bob Mogren.
Father Shane Wasinger will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial for Carol Gorman; 10:30 AM Saturday, (12/5/15) at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rush City. A time of visitation and reviewal is planned for one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church. Interment will take place in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery of Rush City.
