Jeffrey Gene Katz

Jeffrey Katz of Rush City passed away very unexpectedly at Fairview Lakes Hospital in Wyoming on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at the age of 63. Jeffrey Gene Katz was born March 18, 1952 in St. Paul, MN to Jerome and Patricia (Carson) Katz. He grew up on St. Paul's eastside, attending and graduating from Harding High School in St. Paul in 1970. The majority of Jeff's work life was spent driving truck. He was a proud member of the Teamsters Union; Local # 120 for 35 years. In 1971 Jeff married Vicky Nelson Katz and went on to have two children, Jason and Tina. Jeff and his family moved to Rush City in 1986 and Jeff purchased some acreage and several horses. His passion for horses was only exceeded by his love for his four grandchildren and spending time with them. He also enjoyed time spent with his friend Dennis Auslam while working with horses. Jeff had been an active member of the Double R/C Riding Club since 1987. He is survived by wife Vicky; children Jason (Kristina) Katz of Brook Park, Tina (Saul) Medina of Harris; grandchildren Isabel, Nicholas,Christian and Maxwell Medina; mother Patricia Katz of St. Paul; brother Terrill (Joanne) Katz of St. Paul; sisters Vickie (Steve) Polta of Clayton, WI, Kimberly (Terry) Durland of Downing, WI, LeeAnn (Lennie) Edstrom of Maplewood; many nieces, nephews and one special family friend Josi Trantanella. Jeff is Preceded in death by his father Jerome and brother Jerome. A Celebration of Life for Jeffrey Katz is planned for Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 1-4 PM at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City.
