Carl Bernard Anderson

April 18, 1933 — February 7, 2016

Carl B. Anderson, 82, of Rush City, Minnesota, formerly of Mora and Beroun; passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Gracewood of North Branch. Carl was born to Lars and Anna (Bloemendal) Anderson in McGrath, Minnesota on April 18, 1933.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church there.  The youngest of three children, Carl spent his childhood and attended school in McGrath.  He and his siblings, Verna and August, remained lifelong friends. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1955.  During his time at Fort Carson, Colorado he qualified for Mountain and Cold Weather Training Command.  After being discharged he returned to his job at Armour Packing Company in South St. Paul where he worked for several years.  During this time he was married to Alice Ziesmer and then divorced in 1981. Carl's friends said he could “fix anything.”  He built two of his own homes and helped friends in building their homes.  He was always good at maintaining his cars and garden equipment.  In the 70’s Carl started his Anderson Black Topping business and continued in this business until he retired. Carl met Bev, his 'best friend' of 33 years in 1982. Together they enjoyed camping, riding mopeds, traveling to many states, visiting with friends and family and sharing their home in the Mora area. During his retirement he enjoyed going to senior dining and the '500' card club in Mora. He attended First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City. He was an avid TV fan of football and old westerns. Carl is survived by Bev Anderson of Rush City, sister Verna Frey of Florida, nieces and nephews Dave, Jane, Dan, Carla, Cara, and Lee and many friends, including Ilene and Bruce Holmberg, Gene and Lora Anderson and their families.He was preceded in death by his parents, Lars and Anna, his brother August and his niece June. Memorials are preferred to First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City. A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Friday, February 12, 2016 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rush City with the Reverend Laurie O'Shea officiating.  Music will be provided by soloist Fred Meissner and organist Glenna Reierson and cross bearer Rick Anderson.  The active casket bearers will include Dave Anderson, Steve Revier, Dick Winandy, Al Oesterich, Elmer Haas, Gene Anderson, Kevin Bolejack and Bruce Holmberg.  Honorary casket bearers are the Grothe-Jacobson VFW Post #6692 and the Rush City American Legion Post #93.The interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis with Military Honors is planned for Tuesday (2/16/16) at 10:00 AM.  We will meet and start at Assembly Area #2 inside the cemetery.
