Audrey Olson

Audrey Olson of Rush City passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016 at Ecumen of North Branch at the age of 89. Audrey Adell (Mell) Olson was born October 13, 1926 in Rush Point, MN to Charles and Ebba (Anderson) Mell. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Audrey attended District 24 school in Rush Point and also Chippewa Hill school east of Rush City. In her younger years, Audrey worked at Griggs Cooper in St. Paul. She packed K-rations for the service men during WWII. October 21, 1945 Audrey married the boy next door, Myron Olson, the couple had three children. She and Myron loved to travel; most everywhere in the United States. Audrey worked part-time at Rush City Schools in food service for twenty years. She and Myron loved entertaining and Audrey loved her “Betty Crocker” cook book. They enjoyed old time dancing and being active as life-long church members. Audrey and Myron were married for 68 years. She was a mother and grandmother. Audrey is survived by children Leland “Lee” Olson of New Hope, Patricia Baker of Fall Creek, WI., Steven Olson of Brooklyn Center, grandson Benjamin Baker of Eau Claire, WI., siblings Eleanor Severson of Forest Lake, Diane (Jerry) Nedegaard of Cambridge, Duane (Joyce) Mell of Braham, Glenn (LaDez) Mell of Rush City and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Charley and Ebba Mell, husband Myron Olson, grandson Chad Baker, siblings Cedric and Wilfred Mell, Phoebe (Art) Lundin. Reverend Laurie O'Shea will officiate a funeral service for Audrey Olson; 11:00 AM, Monday, February 29, 2016 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City. A time of visitation and reviewal is planned for one hour prior to the service at the church. Cross Bearers include Nancy Fugina and Laura Hillborn. Music will be provided by Donnette Wheelock and Dianne Kirchberg. The interment will take place in the First Lutheran Cemetery of Rush City with the following active casket bearers Nancy Lewis, Lisa Grannan, Mike Lundin, Craig Mell, Jack Severson and Kevin Mell. Honorary casket bearers include Audrey's Godchildren; Donnette Wheelock, Jim Severson, Debra Staloch, Peter Olson and Allan Ringer; other honorary casket bearers include Sharon Mell, Dale Mell, Harold Eklund, David Nelson, Ed Rohlf and Duane Moulton. Memorials are preferred to First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City Building Fund.
