Ervin Herman Teich

Ervin Herman Teich of Pine City passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Rush City at the age of 88. Ervin was born on March 6, 1928 to Emil Albert and Mary (Vondrasek) Teich in Pokegama Township, Pine City, Minnesota. Ervin was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. Ervin attended rural school in Pokegama Township up to 8th grade. Ervin joined the service in 1952. When Ervin returned he met and married Arlene on Oct. 12th, 1957 at Zion Lutheran Church in Pine City. Their first home was an apartment in town. In 1958 Ervin and Arlene purchased the Bud Teich farm. In 1961, they moved and bought a farm on the Brunswick Road just west of Pine City. This is where they lived and raised their four sons and a daughter. Ervin worked at Land O’ Lakes for 30 plus years. He enjoyed driving tractor on his farm. In his free time he also drove to Pine Heaven to do some polka dancing and listening to country music. His grandchildren were the highlight of his life, always coming to see him on the farm to cause mischief, and of course teaching them the basics of farming. Ervin is survived by his children: Alan (Nancy) Teich, Donald (Joyce) Teich, Roger (Michelle) Teich, Scott (Kristi) Teich, Andrea (Gerald) Plasek all of Pine City, 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, siblings: Ernie (Evelyn) Teich of Phoenix, Arizona, RoseMarie (Paul) Mertz of Maple Plain, Wally Teich of Hutchinson, Clinton (LaVerne)Teich of Pine City, Nina Mattkins of Hutchinson. He is preceded in death by his wife Beatrice Arlene Teich, his parents Emil & Mary (Vondrasek) Teich, brother Clarence Teich, and daughter-in-law Debbie Teich. Reverend Glen Kleppe will officiate the service for Ervin: 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Pine City, Minnesota. A time of visitation and reviewal is planned for Monday, March 14 from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City, Minnesota and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Birchwood Cemetery, Pine City.
