Daniel Paul Rydberg

Daniel Paul Rydberg, 64, of Pine City passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends on March 22, 2016. Dan, the son of Paul Rydberg Sr. and Nomie Wallin, was born on October 21, 1951 in Madison, Minnesota. Dan was the oldest child of 4. He attended school in Pine City, where he graduated in 1969. He then attended Superior College in Duluth and Anoka-Ramsey Community College in Cambridge, Minnesota. Dan was drafted into the army and served from 1971-1972, when he was honorably discharged. In 1973, he was married to Jacqueline Stepanek and they made their home in Pine City and had two children, Anna and Danny. On February 29, 1992 he was married to Deb (Jones) Rydberg. Over the years he enjoyed a variety of professions- he owned and operated a trucking company, DND Rydberg. He worked in logging, road construction, rock crushing, and highway paving. He enjoyed serving on the Pine City Planning Commission for 11 years. He also loved to sing and ran a business, DJP Karaoke, for 23 years. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, and spending time with family. Dan loved spending time at the Rydberg cabin throughout the year-- hunting, sharing stories, cooking, and hosting family gatherings. He will be lovingly remembered by Deb, his wife of 24 years, daughter Anna Rydberg (Brendt Nelson) of Pine City, son Dan (Jenny) Rydberg of Pine City, grandchildren Sydney Rydberg-Olsen, Blaise and Solei Olsen, Arissa, Lexie, and Addison Rydberg, mother Nomie Wallin of Cambridge, brothers Kip (Lori) Rydberg of Pine City, Paul (Barbara) Rydberg of St. Francis, sister Susie Rydberg of Pine City, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Paul Rydberg, step-mother Peggy Rydberg, step-father Ken Wallin, and in-laws Donovan and Gladys Jones. “I had a good life, no complaints from me. Played hard and worked hard as long as I was able to. It’s not a sad thing, it’s just life. So I got ‘er done.” -Dan 2015 Funeral services for Dan Rydberg will be held at: 11:00 AM Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the Danforth Community Chapel in Danforth Township. A time of visitation and reviewal is planned for Friday, (3/25/16) from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City and one hour prior to the funeral service at the Danforth Community Chapel. Music will be provided by Jon Peters. Casket Bearers will include Ed Sauter, Casey Kozisek, Robert Blazek, Nathan Jones, Rhiannon Sauter, Kip Rydberg Jr., Adam Rydberg, and Seth Sauter. Honorary Casket Bearers include Dan’s Goddaughters Emma Maxwell and Kendra Jones. Military Honors will be provided by Heath-Perkins American Legion Post #51, Novak-Milliren VFW Post #4258 and the Minnesota National Guard. Interment will take place in the Danforth Cemetery, Danforth Township, MN.
