Eileen Burback of Shoreview passed at the North Memorial Medical Center on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the age 91.
Eileen Hazel (Perry) Burback was born on May 1, 1924 in Rolette, North Dakota to Hubert and Alva (Seltun) Perry.
Raised during the depression in North Dakota, Eileen was a prairie girl at heart. She lived in the Twin Cities for many years, but always loved how she could see as far as the horizon on her beloved prairie. With little employment opportunities in the country, she was encouraged by her dad to go to the ‘big city’ of Minneapolis. Thinking a small town might stifle her, Eileen listened to her father and set off on a business career in insurance and manufacturing with a number of different conglomerates.
Eileen was married later in life, had three kids, and frequently returned to where her parents retired. This was a farm in Wisconsin where she and her family enjoyed the ‘country’. Very involved in her church, Eileen's faith sustained and pushed us all to bigger and better ideals.
Eileen was very involved in the lives of her neighbors, her children and grandchildren.
Her family is so blessed to have known her through many difiicult trials that did not diminish a life lived beyond the prairie.
We are honored to have loved her and very grateful to have been in her care all this time.
Eileen is survived by her children Steve (Pam) Burback of Kaerney, MO., Diane (Joe) Schmidt of Lino Lakes, Bob Burback of Moundsview, grandchildren Jess Schmidt, Jenn (Josh) McGinnity, Claire (Daniel) Snell, Katie Burback, Amy Burback and Peter Burback, great-grandchildren Aidan, Riley, Owen and Walter and her sister Bonnie Harris of Baraboo, WI.
She is preceded in death by her parents Hubert and Alva Perry, husband Herbert Burback, and sisters Betty Perry and Gertrude Carrao.
Father Cory Rohlfing will celebrate a Mass of Christian burial for Eileen: 10:30 AM Monday, April 25, 2016 with a time of visitation one hour prior to the service at St. Joseph of the Lakes Catholic Church in Lino Lakes. Casket Bearers include Bonar Sabby, Jim Schmidt, Jeff Carrao and David Cooke. The interment will take place in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis on Tuesday, April 26 at 10:00 AM; meet at assembly area # 1.
