James Cletus D'Aoust passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Fairview Ridges in Burnsville, Minnesota at the age of 89.
James was born on June 6, 1926 to Wallace and Esther (Busselman) D'Aoust in Duluth, Minnesota. He attended Pine City Schools, graduating in 1944 from Pine City High School.
In 1945 he was drafted into the United States Army during World War II. He was assigned as an anti-tank crewman in Hawaii, and then was sent to Japan with the American Occupation forces.
Jim returned to Pine City upon discharge from the Army. He worked for the Northern Pacific Railway. Later he was employed with the Pine County Highway Department for 33 ½ years, retiring on January 1, 1983.
Jim met and married Ina Miller and they had one son, James Richard “Rick”. Jim enjoyed playing golf for many years and helped design the Pine City Golf course. Papa Jim loved spending time with his two grandchildren, James and Marina.
Jim was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
Jim is survived by his wife Ina, son James “Rick” (Dawnelle) D'Aoust of Lakeville, grandchildren James Wallace D'Aoust and Marina Mae D'Aoust, many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Wallace and Esther D'Aoust, brother Wallace D'Aoust, and half-brother Gib.
Pastor Josiah Hoagland will officiate at services for James: 3:00 PM Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Swanson Funeral Chapel, Pine City, Minnesota. A time of visitation is planned for one hour prior to the service at the Chapel.
