Daniel Joseph Hejny passed away at his home on Saturday, May 21, 2016 as the result of post-polio syndrome at the age of 88.
Dan was born to Joseph and Elizabeth Hejny on March 25, 1928 in Pine City, Minnesota. He attended school in Pine City graduating in 1946. Dan served his county in the United States Navy 1947-50.
He married the love of his life Adrianne “Adie” Wiedemann on August 20, 1951. Together they purchased the Hejny family farm in Pine City. Dan lived and worked his entire life on the family farm. Dan was known for his silly sense of humor and his voracity to overcome adversity after suffering from polio and farm accidents. There was always a way to get it done.
Dan is survived by his loving wife Adrianne (Wiedemann) Hejny, children: Becky (Dan) Covey of Grantsburg, WI, Peter (Rhonda) Hejny of Indiahoma, OK, Theresa (Larry) Larson of Robbinsdale, Amy (Brad) Buys of Pine City, Michael (Cammie) Hejny of Pine City, 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, sister-in-law Lorraine Rohweder, many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Elizabeth (Spinler) Hejny, brothers Robert and Raymond and granddaughter Nicole Anderson.
Kathy Froysland will officiate a Celebration of Life for Dan: 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at the Rock Creek City Center, Rock Creek, Minnesota. A time of visitation is planned for one hour prior to the service at the Rock Creek City Center. Military honors will be provided by Heath-Perkins American Legion Post #51, Novak-Milliren VFW Post #4258 and the Minnesota National Guard.
