Carol Gray of Pine City passed away at the First Light Medical Center in Mora on Friday, July 22, 2016 at the age of 72 years.
Carol Jean Gray was born on April 16, 1944 to Gerald and Cora (Fadness) Gray in Hinckley, Minnesota, the second of 15 children. Carol grew up in Meadowlawn and attended Hustletown country school through eighth grade. She then attended Pine City High School, graduating in 1962.
After high school, Carol worked in the Twin Cities for a short time at Red Robin Laundry. Upon returning to Pine City, Carol worked for Fingerhut Corporation in Mora as a quality control inspector until the plant closed. At that time, she then worked for Golden Horizons in Pine City.
Carol's family and friends will always remember her kind and gentle nature and her big heart. She always greeted everyone with a friendly smile. Even through nine years of battling a muscular disease, she remained strong and her positive attitude was an inspiration to everyone.
Carol loved her many nieces and nephews and treated them all as if they were her own with many great-nieces and great-nephews calling her grandma.
Carol is survived by her siblings; Donald (Jann) Gray of South Jordan, Utah, Charles (Carol Ann) Gray of Eveleth, Kenneth (Betty) Gray, Sandra Hudek, Judy (George) Valvoda, Mary Gray, Nancy Klocke, David (Debbie) Gray, Ed Gray and Kim Gray all of Pine City; sisters-in-law Marilyn Gray and JoAnn Gray both of Pine City; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents Gerald and Cora Gray and her brothers Richard, Larry, Robert and Leonard Gray.
Pastor Bruce Thompson will officiate at funeral services for Carol: 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Pine City Evangelical Free "Lighthouse" with a time of visitation and reviewal one hour prior to the funeral at church and also on Tuesday evening from 5-8 PM at the Swanson Chapel in Pine City. Music will be provided by Heidi and Steve Gray. Casket bearers include her nephews: Steve Gray, Dan Gray, Steve "Skip" Hudek, Lance Furber, Jason Valvoda, Brian Gray, Chad Buirge, Chris Buirge, Chris Gray, Mike Gray, Scott Klocke, and Brad Klocke.
The interment will take place in the Union Cemetery at Hustletown northeast of Pine City.
