Larry Norman Pangerl passed away unexpectedly August 5th at his home in Pine City, Minnesota at the age of 61.
Larry Norman Pangerl was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on July 14th, 1955 to Laurence and Winifred Pangerl.
As a youngster, Larry enjoyed Cub Scouts, rifle training, hunting, working summers on his sister’s farm in Almelund, playing trombone, snowmobiling, swimming, fishing, working in his dad’s woodshop and many other activities. He was interested in the Audobon society, his telescope, chemistry set, microscope and rock collections. He liked singing and nice cars, and he took pride in his appearance.
Larry attended schools in Vadnais Heights and Rush City, Minnesota. He later served in the United States Navy during 1972-73 and was honorably discharged. He married Cindy Lee Rustad on December 15, 1973. Their union brought forth three children, Eric, Dawn and Lucas.
The Pangerl family enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and being together. Holidays (especially Thanksgiving) were very important to Larry, and he wanted his family with him at those times. He enjoyed photography so much that he took an online photography class to refine his skills. He loved hanging out and tinkering in his garage, which he was proud of, because he moved the original structure (a two walled portion of a garage) into place and completed its construction. It is amazing when you see what he accomplished! Larry also built picnic tables, arbors, wishing wells, potato bins and more. He loved working with his hands. He loved history, especially about JFK, Hitler and the World Wars.
Larry had a great sense of humor and he enjoyed music, including Huey Lewis and the News, Alan Jackson, Waylon, Willie and the boys.
Larry was a jack of all trades, and his work history included selling pots and pans door to door, building silos, laying block and cement work, managing a turkey farm and work in a trailer court, including many other occupations. For a time, he was a facilitator for Narcotics Anonymous in Pine City.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their kind expressions of sympathy at this time of grief and loss.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Cindy; sons Eric Pangerl and wife Valarie, Lucas Pangerl and wife Lindsey, Xavier Pangerl and Monte Pangerl, daughter Dawn Stearns and husband Jamie; 7 grandchildren, sisters: Judy Bostrom and husband Harlan, Pat Muellner and husband Richard, Linda Ronzheimer and husband Loren, Brenda Huenecke and husband Lee, Wendy Jannusch and husband Len, and Jodi Hammill, many nieces, nephews and friends.
