Pauline Mary Bible

May 13, 1936 — September 26, 2016

Pauline Blackowiak Bible passed away peacefully following a 4-year courageous battle with cancer Monday, September 26, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Pine City at the age of 80. She was a loving and much loved mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Pauline (Paulie to her family and friends) was born to Raymond and Katherine (Timmers) Sullivan on May 13 1936 in Deephaven, MN. She spent her childhood and attended school in Deephaven. The first time she met her future husband Charlie Blackowiak, she was just 14 years old. Pauline and Charlie were married on June 12, 1954, one week after graduating high school. Since Charlie was in the U.S. Navy, they made their first home in a small apartment in Norfolk, VA. When Charlie was discharged from the Navy, they made their home in Brooklyn Center, MN, where they had four children. They eventually moved their family to Dayton, MN and finally to Pine City, MN, where they lived happily on an 80 acre farm. In 1985, after a short battle with cancer, Charlie passed away. In November of 1989 Pauline married Kenny Bible. Kenny and Pauline made their home in Pine City, where they lived for the next 18 years. Sadly, Kenny also passed away from cancer in 2007. Pauline continued to live in Pine City until her death. Pauline worked through the years, at the Pine City Pioneer, and she had a long career of driving school bus for the Pine City school system. The kids on her bus always talked about how much they loved having her as their bus driver. Above all, Pauline loved her family. She loved having family gatherings where there were always 17 conversations happening at once. She fiercely loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They could always make her smile. She had an amazing spirit. One of her infusion nurses said “if we could bottle her spirit, we could help a lot of people.” She always saw the bright side of everything having to do with her illness. She never got irritated if things didn’t go well at her appointments. Many times, she so influenced her health care providers that they felt like they were the ones being treated rather than the other way around. Pauline demonstrated and leaves a powerful example of practicing unconditional love to her children, grandchildren as well as her extended family. Pauline is survived by her children Douglas Blackowiak of Florida, Julie (Bob) Cox of Pine City, Linda Negus of North Branch, Jean (Dick) Blackowiak-Hermes of Andover, Kelly (Tim) Baker of Isanti; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings Joan (Dave) Hart of Shakopee, Judy Collins, Ginger Zahler both of St. Michael; sister-in-law Diane Sullivan; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Katherine Sullivan; husbands Charlie Blackowiak and Ken Bible and her brother Dan Sullivan. Monsignor Aleksander Suchan will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial for Pauline: 10:30 AM on Thursday (9/29/16) at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pine City. Casket bearers will include Eric Hermes, Jeremy Blackowiak, Travis Smith and Joe Miller. The honorary casket bearer will be Andrew Hermes. A time of visitation and reviewal is planned for Wednesday from 5-8 PM at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City with the Rosary recited at 7 PM. A time of visitation and reviewal is also planned for one hour prior to the Mass at the church in the St. Anthony Commons area. The interment will take place at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Pine City.
