Mary Ann Lunseth of Rush City and West Rush Lake passed away at Ecumen of North Branch on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the age of 87.
Mary Ann Agnes Kubes was born July 17, 1929 on a farm near New Prague, Minnesota to Ed and Emma (Krenik) Kubes. After graduating from New Prague High School, she studied nursing at the University of Minnesota and later received her RN degree from St. Mary’s in Minneapolis. She enjoyed every aspect of her nursing career, especially assisting her husband in the operating room for the last 16 years before retiring in January of 1994.
Anytime family could get together was always special and enjoyed very much. Among Mary Ann’s favorite past times, she loved vegetable gardening, watching the Vikings and Twins games, crocheting scrubbies and had a great interest in small airplanes and actually earned a private pilot’s license in the 1980’s which lasted only a short time due to her work schedule.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband John B. Lunseth MD; children Cathy (Mike) Dockendorf of Hudson, Wisconsin, Steven (Shelley) Hunter of Monroe, Ohio, James (Barbara) Hunter of St. Petersburg, Florida, Jean Lawson of Orange, California; 5 step-children: John B. Lunseth, II of Medina, Steven Lunseth of Grand Forks, Mark (Susan) Lunseth of Champlin, Michele (Jerry) Oelrich of Bemidji and Susan Ebertz of Woodbury; 28 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; brother Benedict (Mary) Kubes of Roseville; sisters-in-law Dorothy Kubes of Lonsdale and Linda Kubes of Minnetonka.
She is preceded in death by her parents Ed and Emma Kubes; her first husband Bill Hunter; brothers: Melvin (Adeline) Kubes, Theophil (Phyllis) Kubes, Miles Kubes and Benjamin Kubes.
Father Shane Wasinger will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Ann: 11:00 AM Tuesday (10/18/16) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rush City. A time of visitation and reviewal will take place one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church. Music will be provided by Kristine Kubes-Callaghan, Roger Pare’ and Phyllis Keating. The casket bearers will be her grandchildren with the interment in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Rush City.
