Muriel Ramberg passed away peacefully at her home at Ecumen of North Branch on Friday, November 18, 2016 with her husband Carroll by her side as he had been for 67 years. Muriel was 86.Muriel Bernice Munson was born on September 6, 1930 to Oscar and Myrtle (Thunstrom) in Fish Lake Township. Growing up in Stark, Minnesota, Muriel had 2 brothers: Vernon and Allen and 2 sisters: Laverne and Shirley. She attended school in North Branch and graduated from high school in May of 1949.On November 5th, 1949 she married Carroll Ramberg. The couple lived in Minneapolis where Muriel took a job as a department store clerk. Carroll and Muriel had one child. Their son, Steven Carroll Ramberg, was born and died on December 15th, 1950. In 1955, they purchased their farm in Harris. Muriel worked hard helping with the farm work - milking cows and baling hay. In her leisure time, she loved planting flowers. She always had beautiful gladiolas growing near the porch and each spring she would fill the tractor tire planters with colorful flowers. She also enjoyed her soap operas and would often watch them while eating cheese popcorn and drinking Mountain Dew! In 1970, Muriel began working for the United States Postal Service. She served as a mail carrier and clerk at the Harris Post Office while continuing to work on the farm. She put in 20 years with the USPS, retiring in 1990. Carroll has always said what a hardworking woman she was.Muriel loved to travel - she and Carroll made several trips to California, Colorado, and Hawaii. In 1992, she also went on the trip of a lifetime when she and her niece Trish did a bus tour of Europe. In 2002, Carroll and Muriel sold their farm and moved to a town home in Rush City where they quickly made good friends with their new neighbors. Muriel enjoyed when company came - you would always be greeted with a smile and giggles as she asked about what was going on with you. In 2015, they moved into Ecumen Assisted Living in North Branch where they could be well cared for and life could be easier.We will all miss Muriel's infectious smile, her quick wit and her sweet giggles. But, we are happy knowing that she is now resting with Jesus and rocking her baby to sleep.Muriel is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Carroll Ramberg of North Branch; many nieces and nephews including Trish (Ivan) Pruitt of Blaine and their two daughters Kellie and Sammy that were like a daughter and granddaughters to her and Carroll.She is preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Myrtle Munson; baby son Steven Carroll Ramberg; siblings: Vernon, Allen, LaVerne and Shirley.Pastor Steve Weihsmann will officiate memorial services for Muriel: 11 AM; Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Ecumen Chapel in North Branch. A gathering of friends and family is planned for one hour prior to the service also at the Ecumen Chapel.
