Mildred “Milly” Rohlf, 93, of Rush City, MN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Grace Point Crossing-Gables West in Cambridge, MN.Milly Edna Rohlf was born on January 16, 1924 in Ida Grove County, Iowa, the fourth child of Oscar and Ellen Hanson. In 1942, Milly graduated in Iowa from Galva High School. She moved with her family to Braham, Minnesota and lived there until 1945 when she married Richard Erickson of Rush City. Together they raised two boys on the Erickson family farm. In 1961, Richard died unexpectedly leaving Milly with two young boys to raise and a farm to run. In 1963, Milly married Edward Rohlf. The farm was sold and Edward and Milly moved to Rush City. Milly went on to work as a cook at the Park Cafe in Braham for several years. Her next job was at Plastech where she worked until her retirement.Milly loved to cook and loved to have relatives and friends visit. She loved to garden and can pickles, especially dill pickles which was a specialty of hers. She enjoyed flowers and loved crossword puzzles and word searches.Milly is survived by her husband of 54 years Ed Rohlf of Rush City, MN; sons Daryl Erickson of St. Paul, MN and Doug (Carol) Erickson of Cambridge, MN; granddaughters Kirsten (Luke) Koenig of Osceola, WI, Keri Erickson of Cambridge, MN, Katie (Brad) Rekkedal of Zimmerman, MN, and; three great-granddaughters: Hailey, Willow and Avery Rekkedal; two great-grandsons: Bennett and Tanner Koenig; brother Melford Hanson of Pine City; sister Dorothy Peterson of Rush City; Brad Peterson; and other family and friends.Pastor Laurie O’Shea will officiate a Celebration of Milly’s Life: 11:00 AM; Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City. A gathering of family and friends is planned for one hour prior to the service at the church.
