Sidney "Sid" Stueland passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017 at his Brook Park home at the age of 75 after battling heart disease for many years. Sid was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and was about to begin chemotherapy and his heart just gave up. Thank the Lord he didn’t have to suffer through the treatment and he can finally be free of pain.Sid was born January 9, 2017 to Alvin and Avelda (Johnson) Stueland in Fairmont, Minnesota. Sid served in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964. He worked at Unisys for 25 years and at Federal Cartridge for ten years before retiring. After retiring, he and Sharon made their home on 40 acres where Sid, the avid outdoorsman he was, could hunt and fish. He was a gun enthusiast and enjoyed participating and making friends at gun shows. The Minnesota Vikings and the Golden Gophers were his two favorite football teams and he loved watching both. Above everything else he loved his family and his two furry (cats) friends Sonny and Sammy.He will be dearly missed and will live on in our hearts and never be forgotten.He is survived by his wife Sharon, children: Brett (Michelle) Stueland, Chad Stueland, Randy Carroll, Lori Carroll, Lisa Carroll, grandchildren James Carroll, Tyler Byland, Emily Larson, sister Fran (Roger) Schaefer, other relatives, friends and furry friends Sonny and Sammy.He is preceded in death by his mother Avelda Johnson, father Alvin Stueland, and sister Sandy Carlson.Pastor Fred Hanson will officiate Memorial services for Sid 3:00 p.m., Monday, February 20, 2017 at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City. Military honors will be provided by Heath-Perkins American Legion Post #51, Novak-Milliren VFW Post #4258 and the United States Navy Honor Guard.
