Rose Marie Peloquin of Rush City passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Ecumen of North Branch at the age of 87.Rose Marie Louise Champeau was born April 7, 1929 to Ernest and Winifred (Simon) Champeau in New Richmond, Wisconsin. Rose Marie lived in Somerset, Wisconsin and attended St. Anne’s School until 4th grade when the family moved to St. Paul, Minnesota where her father took a job working at 3M. Rose Marie then attended St. John’s School, graduating from St. Matthew’s High School and Good Council Academy in Mankato, Minnesota. She attended St. Catherine’s University for 2 years. In 1947, at the age of 21, she entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in Crookston. In 1950, Rose Marie became a Medical Record Administrator and worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids. In 1969, she left the convent. On February 28, 1970 Rose Marie married Phil Peloquin at St. Bernard’s Church in St. Paul. They lived in St. Paul, Hugo and then moved to Rush City in 1971. Rose worked for the State of Minnesota as a Medical Records Consultant for about one year and the Cambridge State Hospital for a similiar time. She acted as Medical Records Director at Memorial Hospital in Cambridge from 1973 through 1985. Moving to Kingsville and Bishop Texas, Rose Marie worked at Spohn Kleberg Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1994. The couple then returned to Rush City where she and Phil managed the County Apartments until his death in 1996.Rose Marie was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a foster grandparent at the Rush City Elementary School. A member of the Rush City Garden Club and the Rush City Women’s Club, Rose Marie still had time to knit, read, garden and volunteer as an EMT for the Rush City Ambulance Service.Rose Marie is survived by her sister Lillian (Joe) Wegleitner of Rush City; many nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Winifred Champeau; husband Phil Peloquin; sister Delia (Marvin) Stai.Father Shane Wasinger will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial: 11 AM; Tuesday (4/11) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a time of visitation 1 hour prior.
