Katy Louise Lindstrom-Miller

January 12, 1949 — October 30, 2009

Katherine Louise Miller, known to her family and friends as Katy, was born at Faribault, Minnesota on January 12, 1949. Within a very short time she was adopted by Eugene and Dorothy (Overmann) Lindstrom of Rush City, Minnesota. Katy grew up on the family farm located several miles northwest of Rush City. She and her brother, Kirby, shared many tales of growing up on the farm and attending school. Katy was active in her high school theater department and following graduation, she attended the University of Minnesota to study business administration. She met her husband, Gary, while a student there and they were married at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Minneapolis in 1969. They made their first home in Brooklyn Center and later moved to Hastings, Minnesota. Over the years she worked as a sales representative, restaurant manager, legal secretary and a chemist at Ecolab in the Twin Cities. Early on, Katy was involved with a small theater troupe in Hastings. She always enjoyed her hobbies of gardening, sewing, and other hand crafts, and was especially proud of the nearly six years of sobriety she had achieved. A resident of North St. Paul, Katy died October 30, 2009 at St. John’s Medical Center in St. Paul at the age of 60 years. She is survived by hr daughters Dawn (Kelly) Kuehl of Bloomington, MN and Mary (Tuey) Tum of North St. Paul; nine grandchildren; brother: Kirby Lindstrom of Rush City; aunts: Jean Schultz and Barbara Kirk, both of Rush City, and Emma Lindstrom of Pine City. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Anne, and her parents, Eugene and Dorothy Lindstrom. The Reverend Laurie O’Shea officiated at graveside services at the First Lutheran Cemetery in Rush City at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2009. Arrangements were entrusted to Funeral & Cremation Service, Olson Chapel, Rush City, Minnesota.
