Bernice Elizabeth Nordby, was born December 29, 1935, in Arcadia, Wisconsin. She died November 10th at her home in rural Pine City after an illness of several years.Bernice met Odell through a letter that he had written to his brother requesting that his brother save him one of the girls from across the hill. They were later married on October 8, 1954 in Whitehall, Wisconsin, where they lived a peaceful, country life. Odell and Bernice operated a Christmas tree farm until they moved to Bloomington, Mn. in the late nineteen sixties. Here Bernice put in over twenty years in the “Ready-Wear” department at the Holiday store. In 1989, Bernice and Odell moved to the Pine City area where Bernice worked as a home health aid for over twenty years. It never appeared to be a job to her to bring about these actions, but just a sincere passion for taking care of the people she loved. She was also a member of the Ladies' VFW and American Legion Auxiliary for many years as well as very active in these organizations. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 13th at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 825 Golf Ave. SW, Pine City with a Memorial Visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at a later date in Whitehall, Wisconsin.
